CARTWHEEL / PRIVACY POLICY
Your information.
Your choices.
Effective September 8, 2026
Cartwheel is operated by Kim Fisher (“we,” “us”). This policy covers the Cartwheel app and this promotional website. It explains the information we use to provide fitness, nutrition, and AI coaching, and the choices you have.
Information you share
- Account: your Sign in with Apple identifier, name or email when provided by Apple, and Cartwheel account ID.
- Profile and goals: information such as age, height, weight, training experience, goals, movement limitations, food preferences, and nutrition targets.
- Meals and activity: meal photos, nutrition estimates and edits, favorites, recipes, shopping lists, workout plans, sets, and workout history.
- Coaching: messages, live voice audio, conversation context, summaries, and memories used for continuity.
- Service operation: feature usage counts, subscription entitlement information, and technical or security records needed to run and protect the app.
Apple Health and device permissions
Health access is optional and limited to the categories you authorize, such as steps, active energy, workouts, sleep, and weight. Raw Health history stays on your device. With coaching permission, a limited daily summary of authorized categories may be included in AI coaching context. If you enable write-back, Cartwheel can save nutrition and completed workouts to Apple Health.
Camera, microphone, Health, and notification permissions can be changed in your device settings. Many app features remain available without these permissions.
Why we use information
We use information to sign you in, synchronize your records, personalize app features, estimate meal nutrition, provide coaching, process subscription access through Apple, enforce usage limits, troubleshoot problems, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information or use it for cross-app advertising or tracking.
AI features and OpenAI
Cartwheel asks for feature-specific permission before sharing personal information with OpenAI’s commercial APIs. Meal analysis can send a meal photo, capture context, and relevant profile, nutrition totals, and targets. Text coaching can send your message and relevant conversation and account context. Voice coaching streams microphone audio through our Supabase-hosted relay to OpenAI.
Coaching context can include your goals, meals, training information, coaching memories, and a limited daily summary of Health categories you authorized. Supported app actions can return relevant results to the conversation. The app’s confirmation flows apply where required.
Exercise illustrations are created separately using approved coach references. Viewing a guide does not generate a new image or send your photo for that purpose.
OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models unless the customer opts in. Standard abuse-monitoring logs may contain content and may be retained for up to 30 days, subject to documented exceptions. Disabling stored response objects does not eliminate all provider retention. We do not promise immediate deletion of provider-held copies. See OpenAI’s API data controls.
You can decline or revoke AI-sharing permission in Cartwheel. Revoking permission stops future sharing for that feature; it does not undo processing that already occurred.
Service providers
Apple provides sign-in, purchases, distribution, and optional Health integration. Supabase provides authentication, database storage, private photo storage, and server functions. OpenAI provides the AI features described above. This website is hosted through OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare; hosting providers may process request information such as IP address, browser details, and security logs to deliver and protect the site. Providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate.
This website does not add advertising analytics or a marketing signup form. Links to TestFlight, Apple support, and Kim Fisher’s contact form take you to separate services with their own privacy practices. Information you send through the contact form is used to respond to your request.
Optional beta observations
If you opt into Cartwheel’s local pilot summary, limited app-use events are stored on your device for up to 30 days and 1,000 events. This is off by default. The summary is not automatically uploaded; you choose whether and where to export it. Turning participation off removes the local journal.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and app records while needed to provide your history and the service, respond to requests, protect the service, and meet legal obligations. Backup copies, security records, and service-provider records may remain for their applicable retention periods after primary records are removed.
Delete your account in Cartwheel Settings → Account → Delete Account. The app removes your authentication record, user-linked database records, and private meal photos, then clears local account data after the server confirms deletion. You can also delete individual editable records in the app.
Uninstalling Cartwheel does not delete your account. Account deletion does not cancel Apple subscriptions or remove Apple’s purchase records or data already written to Apple Health. Manage those through Apple.
Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your information, withdraw consent, or complain to a relevant privacy authority. Edit your profile in the app, change device permissions, manage AI-sharing choices, or contact us to exercise a right. We may need to verify account ownership.
Security
We use encrypted network connections and user-scoped access controls to help protect information. No service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your device and Apple Account secure.
Children
Cartwheel is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission, contact us so we can investigate and address it.
Contact and changes
For privacy questions or requests, use Kim Fisher’s contact form and include “Cartwheel privacy.” We will update the effective date when this policy changes and provide additional notice when required.
